Back pain can come from a variety of reasons. When you come for a Gyrotonic® session you get to move your spine in ways that help it expand, but you will also be doing exercises that build your inner thighs, stretch your psoas (a muscle that connects your upper body to your lower limbs) and build your deep abdominal muscles in a safe way, using the breath. You will help support your body overall, gain strength in your back and other parts of your body, and your back will feel all the much better for it.

In a Gyrotonic® session, you get to stretch and expand your body. Session by session, what felt stiff expands, and your muscles develop in a harmonious way. You come out feeling taller, more grounded and more flexible. Gyrotonic® is a great way to reduce stiffness.

Practicing Gyrotonic® helps improve your posture. It is an ideal system for people who spend a lot of time on screens or if you tend to slouch. Some exercises are also geared towards correcting forward head posture.

Yes! Gyrotonic® stimulates the nervous system and helps bring a feeling of well-being in your body.
Stimulating the nervous system does not mean the same as when you’re activating it by watching a screen or being exposed to intellectual learning. Gyrotonic® helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is connected to relaxation. You might find yourself wanting to yawn, even though you are strengthening your body :).

For those who aren’t into going to the gym or a (chain) fitness studio, Gyrotonic® is a great alternative.
The atmosphere is quiet and you are not surrounded by a group of strangers in a place that smells like sweat. Instead, you will enter a beautiful, quiet space which provides a perfect setting for building strength.
The exercises themselves are targeted towards how you are feeling and doing on that day. The Gyrotonic® system sees your body as a whole, where exercise is meant to tone your whole body, not just different sets of muscles.

I always start by asking how your body feels and adapt the exercises to fit your needs, so that there isn’t exactly a typical session, although you can be sure that you will get a whole body stretch.
Although there are sets of exercises that focus more on one region of your body (e.g. developing your deep abdominal, increasing flexibility in your shoulders, stretching the psoas, activating and strengthening your hamstrings, etc.), all exercises follow some principles that help you feel where the movement can come from in your body. You learn how to support your body and move more easefully in every day life.

Yes, definitely! Gyrotonic® is a great tool for supplemental training.
If you are a swimmer, runner, cyclist, soccer player, golfer, horse rider, dancer, musician, etc., Gyrotonic® will provide you with a great way to build on your strength so that you can perform better and protect your body when you do your favorite physical activity.

Pilates tends to focus a lot on building strength in straight lines, stabilizing and controlling the body. Gyrotonic®, on the other hand, restores the body’s natural spirals. It is three dimensional, circular, and more breath-driven. Gyrotonic® builds mobility and joint articulation.
Each method feels different, it’s up to you to see which one you prefer doing when :).
Gyrotonic® is a unique movement system that helps you build strength from within, feel where movement comes from and develop minute body awareness.
Founded in the 1980’s by Juliu Horvath, this comprehensive system helps you build strength, gain agility and experience more freedom in your body.
Gyrotonic® is different from other personal trainings in that it involves the whole body in a three dimensional approach: we aren’t working only on one part of your body, we’re training your body to move harmoniously while strengthening it.
